Sant Gervasi had its origin in an old town north to Barcelona. Nowadays, that area is also part of the city and it has become the most exclusive area of Barcelona. It has four different neighbourhood recognisable one from the other thanks to some features. Walking on its streets we will recognise four different neighbourhoods: Galvany, La Bonanova, El Putxet i el Farró and Les Tres Torres.

Sant Gervasi’s origin belongs to the old town of Sant Gervasi de Cassoles in the neighbourhood of Can Lledó.

Some of the magnificent vacational houses of rich families from Barcelona in the 19th Century still preserves its splendour; an example of them are: Villa Mayfair, Casa Gil (or Villa Lotus), Marquès d’Alella Palace (or Casa Muñoz Ramonet) and Torre d’en Lledó.

Splendid architecture located foothills of Collserola mountain, which is a very important green area of the city but also a frontier.

Sant Gervasi de Cassoles finally become part of Barcelona in 1897.

Multi-storey buildings took over the houses and private gardens, its urbanism decided wide streets and renowned architects such as J.Lluís Sert, J.Mestres i Fossas and Francesc Mitjans that differentiate it from other districts of Barcelona.

Sant Gervasi is a prestigious district from there you can go down to meet the city, allowing to reach every corner in a pleasant walk. It is an alluring place and still off the beaten path that most tourists never encounter. From Tibidabo Avenue you can get to Collserola or to the town centre within minutes.

Eixample de Sarrià‘ is a neighbourhood of contrast between old and new in a very exclusive way, modernist buildings and a peculiar mix of old and new shops. Residential area is surrounded by prestigious schools and renowned clinics.

Galvany

Galvany neighbourhood is located at the bottom part of Sant Gervasi de Casseroles. Diagonal Avenue, Ronda del Mig, Via Augusta and Calvet Street are its limits.

Its name comes from the former owner of the estate: Dr. Josep Castelló i Galvany. His name has been given to an entire neighbourhood and also the popular market in the exclusive area of Barcelona: the Galvany Market.

Located in Can Lledo, the old landscape of summer houses was replaced by elegant buildings. These luxury homes are especially visible in central Muntaner Street. There are walkable passages as Tuset Street within the area.

Galvany district has currently an active daytime business life especially on the Avenida Diagonal, but also an attractive nightlife with restaurants, coffee shops and leisure venues that can be enjoyed in the vicinity of Santaló Street.

Galvany is a good neighbourhood for families and professionals that want to live in a quiet and exclusive area of Barcelona but still pretty close to the centre of the city.

La Bonanova

Bonanova is one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods of Barcelona in Sant Gervasi de Casseroles. It has hilly terrain that was why there was not many inhabitants during many decades ago.
It was in the nineteenth century when La Bonanova became popular among the locals and taking the name of the local parish, led by the small church of Sant Gervasi, it began to be urbanised.

Located at the foot on the mountain range of Collserola, the steepness of its highest streets are no problem for it to be one of the most desirable areas of Barcelona. Palatial homes such as those around the emblematic Avenida Tibidabo and its iconic transportation as the Tramvia Blau give it a unique charm and elegance.

Its network has on Passeig de Sant Gervasi, the Paseo de la Bonanova and Plaza de la Bonanova their main areas where the large institutions are, while Muntaner and Mandri Streets home the most shops.

La Bonanova is suitable for families and professionals looking for good transport connections and excellent schools and renowned clinics. Also, suitable neighbourhood for nature lovers because it is located at the foot of a great mountain, Collserola, and it is easy to leave the city and enjoy of plenty of green areas.

Les Tres Torres

Born in the early twentieth century, the area known as Les Tres Torres was part of the periphery of Sant Gervasi de Casseroles and was limit of Sarria town.

Its development began at hands of few neighbours of Sants, the Romaní brothers & Climent Mas. They were who built three chalets, one each, in the old part called Nena Casas, and this way was how the centre of this district got its name: Les Tres Torres.

Nestled among the important areas of Galvany, Bonanova and Sarrià, Les Tres Torres claims its differential nature, and even though it does not have major roads, the Passeig de la Bonanova, the Via Augusta and General Mitre make it fully accessible.

Its wide and leafy streets provide peaceful environment in green areas and offer good utilities.

Les Tres Torres is suitable for families and professionals that want to live in a exclusive area of Barcelona, in a quiet neighbourhood and close to Sarrià. Properties here used to have good transport links, utilities and community areas. It is also well connected to el Vallés by road or train.

El Putxet i el Farró

The name El Putxet comes from a small hill located between the district of Vallcarca (Gracia) and the centre of Sant Gervasi. El Farró area is where Silvestre Farró built the first houses of the neighbourhood, a place formerly uninhabited.

Inhabited since 1870, the area became popular among the bourgeoisie where many families built their summer houses, far from the city centre. The influence of modernism can be sensed on some of these houses located in Passatge Mulet. Although today residential buildings are the most common.

El Putxet neighbourhood is pretty small but has great character, where the slope of the terrain makes it a small urban mountain.

All around, narrow, irregular and sloping streets make this small hill the epicentre of an entire neighbourhood.

El Putxet i el Farró is a good neighbourhood for families and professionals that are not bothered with the terrain and appreciate tranquillity. It is midway between the city centre and Tibidabo.

That’s Sant Gervasi, one of the largest and most diverse neighbourhoods of Barcelona, historic and residential district in the most exclusive area of Barcelona!
